For an optimal experience, plan your visit for spring, when the landscape is lush and wildflowers bloom among the stones. The most enchanting times are early morning and late afternoon, when the low sun casts a golden glow upon the ancient columns. Be sure to bring water and a hat to guard against the strong sun. While visitors are free to wander, access to the most delicate mosaics may be restricted. A small on-site museum displays recovered artifacts, but note that many of Volubilis’s most significant discoveries are housed in the Archaeological Museum in Rabat.
