Marrakech to Essaouira and back
We drive west through argan groves — the argan tree grows wild only in this part of Morocco — to the Atlantic coast. Essaouira's UNESCO-listed medina is calmer and less crowded than Marrakech's, and its Portuguese-built sea walls (the Skala) and working fishing port give the town a different rhythm entirely — cooler, breezier, and built around the sea rather than the souk. We spend the day walking the medina, the ramparts, and the port, with free time for lunch, before returning to Marrakech in the evening.
