Day 01

Marrakech to Imlil and back

We drive up through the Ourika or Asni valley into the High Atlas to Imlil, a village at roughly 1,740 meters and the last stop before the trails up Mount Toubkal, North Africa's highest peak at over 4,000 meters. It's a genuine change of scenery from Marrakech — stone Berber houses, walnut trees, and terraced orchards on the valley slopes, with air that's noticeably cooler even in summer. We walk through the village and nearby hamlets, stop for mint tea with a view of the peaks, then return to Marrakech in the evening.
