Fes to Volubilis and Meknes, and back

We drive out to Volubilis, the best-preserved Roman ruins in Morocco and a UNESCO World Heritage Site — once a thriving provincial capital, with mosaic floors, standing columns, and a triumphal arch still visible today, worth about an hour on foot to see properly. From there we continue to Meknes, an imperial city built up largely under Sultan Moulay Ismail in the 17th century, for a look at the monumental Bab Mansour gate and the medina, before returning to Fes.
