Your 6-day adventure begins in Fez as we journey south into the Middle Atlas Mountains. Our first stop is the charming alpine-style town of Ifrane, often called the “Switzerland of Morocco.” We’ll then continue to the ancient cedar forests of Azrou, home to wild Barbary macaques, where you can observe them in their natural habitat. The scenic drive will take us through stunning mountain landscapes and traditional Berber villages before we arrive in Midelt, a town famous for its apple orchards, for dinner and an overnight stay.
After breakfast, our journey continues towards the Sahara. We will cross the Tizi n’Talghamt pass and descend into the spectacular Ziz Valley, a vast oasis of lush palm groves stretching for miles. Following the valley, the landscape transforms into the unmistakable gateway to the desert. Upon arriving in Merzouga, you’ll be welcomed with mint tea before settling into your hotel at the edge of the majestic Erg Chebbi dunes.
Today is dedicated to exploring the wonders of the Sahara. We’ll visit the village of Khamlia to experience the spiritual Gnawa music, explore the historic Miffis mines, and share tea with a nomadic family to learn about their timeless way of life. In the afternoon, your camel caravan awaits to guide you on an unforgettable trek across the sea of golden sand. You’ll pause to witness a breathtaking sunset before arriving at your traditional desert camp for a delicious dinner, the rhythm of Berber drums, and a magical night under a brilliant canopy of stars.
Wake before dawn to see a spectacular sunrise paint the dunes in incredible colors. After breakfast at the camp, you’ll travel to the Todra Gorges, Morocco’s highest and narrowest canyon. Take time for a leisurely walk along the riverbed, surrounded by towering 300-meter-high rock walls. Our journey then continues along the “Road of a Thousand Kasbahs,” leading us to the stunning Dades Valley, renowned for its dramatic rock formations. Here, you will have dinner and spend the night in a hotel nestled within the gorge.
After breakfast, we will depart from the Dades Valley towards Ouarzazate, often called the “Hollywood of Africa.” Along the way, we’ll pass through the Valley of Roses and the Skoura palm grove. Upon arrival in Ouarzazate, we will visit the impressive Kasbah of Taourirt, a former palace that showcases intricate Moroccan architecture. You will have dinner and spend the night in a traditional riad or kasbah.
Our final day begins with a visit to the legendary Ksar of Ait Benhaddou, a magnificent fortified village and UNESCO World Heritage site that has served as the backdrop for films like Gladiator and Game of Thrones. Afterward, we will journey across the spectacular High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi-n-Tichka pass, stopping for panoramic views and lunch. As we descend from the mountains, the vibrant “Red City” of Marrakech will come into view, marking the incredible conclusion of your 6-day Moroccan odyssey.
