Your adventure begins with a morning departure from Marrakech. We’ll journey across the dramatic High Atlas Mountains, winding through the Tizi n’Tichka pass and pausing at panoramic viewpoints to capture the stunning scenery of traditional Berber villages nestled in the valleys.
Our first major stop is the legendary Aït Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage site. You’ll explore this iconic fortified village (ksar), a masterpiece of southern Moroccan architecture that has served as the backdrop for films like Gladiator and the series Game of Thrones.
After lunch, our journey continues towards the Dades Gorges, passing through Ouarzazate and the fragrant Valley of Roses. As the day ends, you’ll marvel at the unique “monkey toes” rock formations before settling into your accommodation for the night.
After breakfast, you’ll drive through the dramatic Todgha Gorge, where towering canyon walls rise up to 300 meters, creating a spectacular natural wonder. A short walk through the gorge allows you to fully appreciate its grandeur.
Next, you’ll pass through Erfoud, famous for its fossil workshops, before reaching the gateway to the Sahara—Merzouga. Here, you’ll switch from your vehicle to camels for a magical sunset trek across the golden dunes of Erg Chebbi.
Upon arrival at your luxury desert camp, you’ll be welcomed with mint tea and traditional Berber music. Enjoy a delicious dinner under the stars before spending the night in a comfortable, well-equipped tent.
Wake early to witness the magic of a Sahara sunrise, as the first light transforms the colour of the dunes. After breakfast at the camp, we’ll explore the desert landscape in a rugged 4×4 vehicle.
Our off-road journey takes us to meet a nomadic family, where you’ll share a cup of tea and gain insight into their resilient and ancient way of life. The exploration continues with a visit to the historic mining village of M’Fis, a stop in Khamlia to experience the spiritual sounds of Gnawa music, and a chance to see the seasonal Lake of Birds (if filled).
In the afternoon, we’ll head to your Riad in Merzouga where you can check-in and enjoy some free time to relax, swim, or take a walk in the nearby dunes. Dinner will be served at the Riad. (Note: You have the option to spend a second night at the desert camp if you prefer.)
Enjoy a final desert breakfast before we begin our journey north to Fes. Our route travels through the spectacular Ziz Valley, a stunning oasis of over a million palm groves, where we’ll stop for a panoramic view.
Continuing through the Middle Atlas Mountains, we’ll stop in the cedar forests, home to the region’s famous wild Barbary apes. A final, refreshing break will be in Ifrane, known as “Little Switzerland” for its alpine architecture, before we complete the last leg of our journey.
