Day-by-day itinerary
Errachidia to Merzouga
Your driver-guide picks you up at Errachidia airport or your hotel and heads south along the Ziz River's palm groves, through Erfoud and on to Merzouga. In the late afternoon you leave the vehicle and ride a camel into the Erg Chebbi dunes — roughly an hour, timed for sunset. Dinner and the night are at the desert camp, with music around the fire if you're up for it. Bring a warm layer: desert nights cool down fast.
Merzouga to Fes
Climb a dune for sunrise, then breakfast at camp before the drive north. It's a full day on the road, broken up with regular stops: back through the Ziz Valley, a break in Midelt, a quiet market town roughly halfway, then up into the Middle Atlas, where the road runs through cedar forest near Azrou and Barbary macaques are often seen at the roadside. We pass Ifrane, the chalet-style hill town, and arrive in Fes in the evening, dropping you at your riad or hotel.

Frequently asked questions
Why fly into Errachidia and finish in Fes?
Flying into Errachidia puts you a couple of hours from the dunes, so you're in the desert on day one. Ending in Fes means you see the Middle Atlas on the way and can carry on with your trip from there, instead of driving back to where you started.
How long is the drive from Merzouga to Fes?
It's a full day on the road, with stops in the Ziz Valley, Midelt and the Middle Atlas cedar forest — the longest stretch of this trip.
Is this a private tour?
Yes — your own vehicle and driver-guide for both days, with no other bookings joined onto yours.
Which meals are included?
Dinner and breakfast at the desert camp. Lunches and drinks are not included.
Can we do it the other way, from Fes to Errachidia?
Message us with your dates and flight times — we plan private routes around them and can tell you what works best. If you're starting in Fes, our Fes to Marrakech 3-day desert tour reaches the dunes from there instead.
What should we pack?
A warm layer for the night at camp and the Middle Atlas, sun protection, a scarf for wind and sand, and a small overnight bag for the camel ride.
Do prices change with group size?
Yes — the per-person rate drops as the group grows. Send us your dates and group size for a quote.
