Day-by-day itinerary
Errachidia to Merzouga
We collect you from Errachidia airport or your hotel and drive south down the Ziz Valley, the palm-lined river valley that leads toward the Sahara. By late afternoon we're in Merzouga, where you swap the car for a camel for the ride of roughly an hour into the Erg Chebbi dunes, arriving at camp as the light goes. Dinner is at camp, followed by a fire, music, and a sky with almost no light pollution.
A full day around Merzouga
This is the day that sets the 3-day tour apart. Start with sunrise from a dune, then breakfast at camp. Later we head out by 4x4 to Khamlia, where resident Gnawa musicians play a spiritual music tradition with West African roots, and visit a nomadic family for tea — a genuine, low-key stop rather than a show. There's time for Rissani, the old caravan town with a busy local market, and for sandboarding back at the dunes if you want it. Tonight you stay at a riad in Merzouga, or at the desert camp again if you'd rather sleep among the dunes a second time.
Merzouga to Errachidia
A slow morning in Merzouga, then we drive north through Erfoud, where you can see how the area's fossil-rich stone is cut and polished in local workshops. From there the road follows the Ziz River's palm groves back to Errachidia, and we drop you at the airport or your hotel.

Frequently asked questions
How is this different from the 2-day tour from Errachidia?
The 2-day tour is one night in the dunes and straight back. The 3-day tour adds a full day around Merzouga — Khamlia, a nomadic family visit, Rissani and free time at the dunes — and a second night, so nothing feels rushed.
Do we sleep in the desert camp both nights?
The first night is at the desert camp. For the second you can choose a riad in Merzouga or another night at camp — just tell us which you prefer when you book.
Can you pick us up from Errachidia airport?
Yes, we can meet you at the airport or at your hotel in Errachidia, and drop you back at either one on the last day.
Is this a private tour?
Yes — your own vehicle and driver-guide for all three days. We don't combine separate bookings into one group.
Which meals are included?
Breakfast every morning and dinner both nights in Merzouga are included. Lunches and drinks are extra.
Is this tour suitable for families or older travelers?
Yes — there are no long driving days, and the camel ride is gentle. If anyone would rather not ride, we can reach camp by 4x4. Let us know ages or mobility needs when you book.
What should we pack?
Layers for warm days and cold nights, sun protection, a scarf for wind and sand, and shoes you don't mind filling with sand. Keep a small overnight bag for the camp.
Do prices change with group size?
Yes — the per-person rate drops as the group grows. Send us your dates and group size and we'll give you a quote.
